Fumed Silica (Cabosil) – Silicone Thickening Agent
Cabosil fumed silica is a high-purity amorphous silicon dioxide commonly used with silicone systems to increase viscosity and create thixotropic (non-sag) properties. When added to silicone elastomers, it helps control flow, making materials easier to apply to vertical or detailed surfaces.
In addition to thickening, Cabosil can also be used to reduce surface gloss, helping produce a more natural matte finish in cured silicone.
This material is widely used in prosthetics, special effects, and laboratory silicone formulations where improved control of silicone consistency and appearance is required.
